This is the first time since we started the Trivia Round up post that we have missed our standard last day of the month slot. Between Christmas and Star Wars, last months just slipped through the net. I actually had to check myself then. I thought I had become so obsessed that I read 'Christmas and New Year' as 'Christmas and Star Wars' but that's what you wrote! I'm so happy right now. Anyway, panic not because its here:
She's Funny That Way (2014)
Jennifer Aniston's character Jane, has a boyfriend called Joshua and a dog called Chip who were both names of boyfriends in Friends.
Really scraping the trivia barrel here, folks...

The Overnight (2015)
One source told me this was filmed in 15 days, the other said 12, so err, this was filmed pretty quickly...how's that?

Hot Tub Time Machine 2 (2015)
The movie was originally going to be titled Hot Tub Time Machine 3 as a joke about the time travel but the studio would not allow that, claiming it would be too confusing.
This made me laugh more than the movie itself did!

In an interview, Bette Midler mentioned that all three main cast members wanted to make a sequel, but the studio was not agreeable, as they viewed the success of this film as a "fluke". Midler also said that just before the movie opened, she was told it would not do very well because the film was competing against action movies with male stars such as Bruce Willis. This film opened at number one and out-grossed those action movies.
A crowd-pleasing moment at the end of the movie, that surprised even the filmmakers, is when Haymitch (Woody Harrelson) says goodbye to Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks) by giving her a kiss on the lips. Woody and Elizabeth decided to do that unscripted.
The scene where Haymitch reads Plutarch's letter to Katniss was scripted to be Plutarch talking to Katniss in person. It was changed because Phillip Seymour Hoffman, who played Plutarch, died before the scene was filmed.
There was just so much good trivia for this, so you get 2 for the price of 1 ;-)
Happy Christmas (2014)
Director Joe Swanberg also directed Drinking Buddies (2013), which also starred Anna Kendrick. Both films were entirely improvised. There was no script, and the only things the actors and the crew had was a vague outline of the plot and the order in which certain events would take place.
But you knew that already...

For the voice of toddler-age Riley, the producers simply recycled old dialogue of Mary Gibbs, who provided the voice of Boo in Monsters, Inc. (2001). She is even listed in the credits under additional voices.
The scene in which Hugh Grant's character watches himself in a video clip on the Internet is the actual acceptance speech given by Hugh Grant in 1995 when he won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy/Musical for 'Four Weddings and a Funeral'.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)
Oh...I don't know if I can copy & paste this as IMDB lists it as spoilerific. So let me rephrase it as vaguely as possible. There's a stormtrooper who falls for a certain mind trick...and he's played by Daniel Craig!

Compliance (2012)
A message displayed before the film starts refers to the Milgram experiment, and says that the story, inspired by real events, is so shocking it is hard to believe, but that nothing was exaggerated.

If you look close enough when they are at the camp, you can see tiny fangs poking in Dennis's mouth where he lost his tooth. This leads to the ending with his fangs
I agree, the trivia bit for Hot Tub Time Machine 2 is far funnier than the actual movie.
ReplyDeleteThe trivia has been a little dry this month for my movies at least! The Hot Tub Time Machine 2 one makes me chuckle, though.
