Looking Forward to Seeing at the Cinema: December 2016

Even though the nights are dark, it’s freezing cold, and my Christmas tree is up, I can’t quite believe this is the last ‘Looking Forward’ post of 2016! Where have you gone, year?! After a record number of cinema trips in November (I actually made it once a week) I’m preparing to inevitably fall off the wagon, probably because I’m nearly done Christmas shopping and am now poor.

Anyway, my choice for December was already decided 12 months ago, so before I gush about Rogue One I thought it might be fun to look back at what my choices from the rest of the year were!

January: The Big Short - I started off well and saw this at the cinema. Little did I know how much I would be blown away by Spotlight, though.

February: Deadpool - Yaaaaas! Best Valentine’s Day cinema trip ever.

March: Hail, Caesar! - I had 3 planned and cancelled cinema trips for this one. It just wasn’t meant to be…

April: Midnight Special - Such a good movie. Plus, mine and Jenna’s first cinema trip together of the year.

May: Warcraft - My wedding month! Needless to say, I had to wait for the DVD release of this one. Better than I expected, too!

June: The Nice Guys - This came out whilst I was on honeymoon and disappeared quicker than my wedding cake. A shame because I absolutely loved it when I finally got the chance. Still don’t know how nice my wedding cake was, though.

July: Finding Dory - How have I not seen this yet?! Still waiting a DVD release yet. Let’s hope Santa is listening!

August: Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping - We almost watched this on the only bad weather day on honeymoon in June. I had to wait for a UK release instead. Worth every day of the wait!

September: Swiss Army Man - The wait for this was torturous, but worth it in the end. Still the weirdest movie of 2016, if not ever.

October: The Girl on the Train - I never even got round to reviewing this one, because I still don’t know how to feel about it. Kind of wish I’d never read the book and gone in blind.

November: I was greedy last month and picked 4 movies, Nocturnal Animals, Arrival, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and Patterson.

Which brings us onto December. This is always a big month for me when it comes to cinema, because my family get together on the weekend before Christmas to see something big at the IMAX. It started with a special screening of The Polar Express back in 2008, and has been a tradition ever since. This year will be slightly different because of work patterns, so we’ll be seeing Rogue One on Boxing Day instead.

rogue-one-december-uk-cinema-krennic

It feels odd to be honest, this has probably been my most anticipated movie of the entire year, but this time last year I’d never even seen the Star Wars movies and was making my way through them all so I’d know what was going on in The Force Awakens. Skip to the present day and my current handbag has a Stromtrooper helmet on!

I’m not going to find a trailer to post in here, because I’ve somehow managed to only see the first proper trailer. I’ve heard a lot of TV Spots have been made but I’d rather see as little as possible! At the moment I’m mostly looking forward to seeing Ben Mendelsohn’s character, Krennic. Did you see him rock up on stage at the European Star Wars convention earlier this year in full costume? Dude knows how to pull off a white cape! I just about stopped myself from buying his Pop! Figure at Birmingham’s Comic Con the other week.

What movie(s) are you looking forward to catching before the year is up?

Looking Forward to Seeing at the Cinema: November 2016

As always, I'm writing this post a little earlier than 1st November, so it's absolutely terrifying for me to be thinking about movies coming out in November when I haven't even started my Christmas shopping yet! For the record, by the time you're reading this, I'll have already had the annual 'Christmas Planning Meeting' with the Husband, probably over breakfast at one of our favourite American Diners. Spoiler alert for any friends and family reading this: you're all getting movies!

Enough of that though. This post is a little different this month, because there are a ridiculous amount of movies coming out that I want to see. It saddens me knowing that I won't make it to the cinema for them all, but hey, at least I'll look forward to seeing them on DVD next year. No, this month, there is a movie out every single week that I want to see!

nocturnal-animals-movie-uk-release-date

I don't know much about Nocturnal Animals, I've tried to shy away as much as possible, because honestly, with Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal as leads in a Thriller/Drama, that's all I need to get me excited. It looks dark, gritty, and I think there are going to be a few twists and turns as the story unfolds.

Nocturnal Animals will be released in UK cinemas on 4th November 2016.

arrival-movie-uk-release-date

Amy Adams is killing it this year! Just 1 week later she's starring in a Drama/Mystery/Sci-Fi alongside Jeremy Renner called Arrival. Again, I've tried not to dig to much into the plot of this one, but it's the Director that's really selling it to me. Dennis Villeneuve has directed some of my favourite movies, Sicario, Enemy, Prisoners and Incendies to name a few. This guy is hella talented, and I can't wait to see Arrival.

Arrival will be released in UK cinemas on 10th November 2016.

fantastic-beasts-movie-uk-release-date

If you know me at all, you'll know how much I love Harry Potter. I started reading the books when I was just a kid, I attended midnight openings for the last 3 in the series, and if I really don't know what to watch, I'll stick on a Harry Potter movie. It's obvious that I'm looking forward to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Is the news about it being a 5 movie series true? I actually hope not, I'd rather have movies that explore other areas of the wizarding world, but I'll see them nonetheless.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them will be released in UK cinemas on 18th November 2016.

paterson-movie-uk-release-date

Shameless choice alert! It's been nearly a whole year since my Adam Driver obsession started (blame Benedict Cumberbatch for going quiet for so long) and so I'm desperate to see him in something new. He's been the only shining star in too many terrible movies, so I'm not sure where to set my expectations for Paterson. I also don't know how to convince the husband to see this with me. Perhaps Jenna will be free...she saw Midnight Special with me...

Paterson will be released in UK cinemas on 25th November 2016.

Looking Forward to Seeing in the Cinema: October 2016

Welcome to October, the start of Halloweenie Month here at Flick Chicks (more on that here) and the time of year where it's perfectly acceptable to either live in a cardigan or pajamas, with smells of spiced apple and cinnamon in the house. Ahh, Autumn. As a break from watching scary movies, I'm looking forward to squeezing in a couple of cinema trips. There is of course the latest offering from Marvel, featuring my beloved Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, but there's something I'm looking forward to even more than that. Sorry, Benny.

the-girl-on-the-train-emily-blunt

I don't do nearly enough reading, but when I heard about the upcoming release of The Girl on the Train, hailed as 'the next Gone Girl' I knew I needed to read the book. I'd just finished consuming Ready Player One in 5 days and I had the reading bug, so I sacrificed a couple of hours sleep each day and read The Girl on the Train. It's good, guys. I never read Gone Girl, so I can't really make a comparison until I have, but it's good.

If you've not heard of it yet, The Girl on the Train stars Emily Blunt as Rachel, an alcoholic still suffering after her marriage broke down. On the train to work every day she fantasizes about a house a few doors down from her old house which the train passes, and creates names and stories for the couple she sees there. One morning she sees something which shocks her, and the next day the woman from that house goes missing.

Overall, I'm really happy with the casting choices, they matched what I had thought up in my mind really well. What's kind of bugging me is that the movie will be set in New York rather than London. It shouldn't be a big deal but it is to me, it was set in a beautiful little town just on the outskirts of London and the New York setting might just change the tone completely. We'll see.

This is normally the part where I share the trailer but for the love of all that's holy, don't watch it if you haven't done so already. Maybe it's because I know what happens but it has so much to say! Go in blind, please. It'll be worth it.

The Girl on the Train will be released in UK cinemas on 5th October 2016.

Flick Chicks: Looking Forward to Seeing in the Cinema: September 2016

Another month, another looking forward post.  How do these come around so quickly?! September is always the hardest month for this, all the blockbusters have finished, the Halloween and Christmas picks aren't ready yet, it's a bit of stop gap between blocks of loads of good movies coming out.  We should be grateful of the break I reckon!

Having finally watching a Woody Allen movie and loving it and my bizarre love for Jesse Eisenberg - this has to be my pick this month!

Set in the 1930's, Bobby (Jesse Eisenberg) moves to Hollywood and ultimately falls in love with a top agent's Secretary.  I don't really know what happens next (which is amazing considering I have seen the trailer, this must be one of the only trailers that doesn't give us the whole damn story!) and i'm happy to keep it that way until I can get to the cinema!

Cafe Society is released in UK cinemas on 2nd September 2016

I'm actually kind of glad blockbuster season is over! After cramming in a record number of cinema trips this summer (which for me is like, 1 a week) I was looking forward to a quiet movie spell (mainly so I can play the new World of Warcraft expansion) but no! There's actually loads I want to see in September. I'm on the fence about Sausage Party...I can't help but groan at the thought of it, but maybe it'll be good. I'm also keen to see Kubo and the Two Strings and The Magnificent Seven. Plus, September brings the release of Bridget Jones's Baby! Yaaaaas!

All of these I can happily wait for a DVD release though. If I can drag myself away from saving Azeroth for one cinema trip this month, it'll be to see Swiss Army Man. You've got to have heard of this movie by now. I mean, it's been released already across the whole world apart from the UK and Germany! Seriously guys, living on this little island suck hard, sometimes.

If you live in the land of tea and cucumber sandwiches like I do, and haven't heard of Swiss Army Man yet, let me enlighten you. I've only ever watched the trailer and have steered clear of reviews so far, but basically, Paul Dano is stuck on a desert island, and comes across Daniel Radcliffe's corpse on the beach. Turns out a flatulent corpse can be quite useful, hence the name of the movie!

When I first saw the trailer a few months ago, I scoffed at how stupid the whole thing was and ran downstairs with my tablet to show my husband. Thing is, the second time I watched it, something just clicked inside my head and I though, this is genius! I honestly can't wait. Here's the trailer, biscuit lovers:

Swiss Army Man will FINALLY be released in UK cinemas on 30th September 2016.

Looking Forward to Seeing in the Cinema: August 2016

Good afternoon from sunny England, where we’re all complaining about the heatwave that arrived shortly after we were all complaining about our lack of Summer. Me? I’m just riding out the hay fever and patiently waiting for Autumn. After a flurry of blockbuster releases in July, this August is shaping up to be a fairly quiet month for new releases. Thank goodness for that, because I’m so behind!

August brings the long awaited release of Suicide Squad, which I know should be my choice for this month, it’ll be great I’m sure, but I’m so tired of superhero movies right now. I’ll go to see it with the gang, probably on the opening weekend, and I’ll come out loving it and telling myself off, but honestly, there’s a movie coming out at the end of this month that I’m dead excited about. Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping! I can’t believe how long we’ve had to wait for this. In fact, as I start this post a little early whilst I’m typing this the UK STILL hasn’t had the release of Finding Dory! Ugh!

popstar-never-stop-never-stopping-uk-release-date

Anyway, as you all probably already know, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping features the boys from Lonely Island, one of my favourite bands. I’ve also had a little bit of an Andy Samberg crush since getting hooked on Brooklyn Nine Nine this year, so my choice was a no-brainer. It also comes out on my Birthday weekend, which is perfect, other than the near 3 month wait, of course.

I’ve tried as hard as I can to not look up the songs so that they’ll be a surprise, but that’s getting harder every day. One things for sure, this is going to be a soundtrack I’ll want to pick up straight away. I’ve heard there’s some great cameos too. I’m so excited!

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping will be released in UK cinemas on 26th August, 2016.

Looking Forward to Seeing in the Cinema: July 2016

Summer is the wrong time to be so far behind on cinema releases! At the rate I'm going, I'll be watching Independence Day at Christmas, which is all kinds of wrong. I didn't even know what was going to be released this month, I had to look it up, which started off great as I didn't spot anything overly exciting, until the end of the month. Here in the UK we're getting Star Trek Beyond, Jason Bourne and Finding Dory all within one week! I can't wait for all three of them, although Star Trek is going to be tinged with sadness after the crushing news about Anton Yelchin. Noooooooo....

I'd be lying though if I said there was anything I'm more excited about than Finding Dory. It's been 13 years since the original, and even though it's a sequel we didn't need, I'm so happy it's happening! I'm pretty sure everyone in our generation knows two addresses off the top of their head, their own, and P. Sherman's.

finding-dory-uk-release-july-2016

I was lucky enough to be at Disneyland for their 'Speak Like a Whale Day'. I bought a 'Fluent in Whale' t-shirt and picked up a free pin at the park, but didn't realise that nearly every cast member (including security) would ask me to actually speak like a whale! I got quite good at it, if I may say so myself.

But anyway! I can't wait for the return of my favourite characters, and I'm looking forward to seeing the new ones, too. I spotted an otter within all the merchandise which got me excited, they're my favourite animal! The only thing is, we've got to wait another 4 weeks for it here, which means there's no way I'm going to be able to avoid spoilers that long.

Finding Dory will be released in UK cinemas on 29th July 2016.

How am I even supposed to follow Finding Dory?!  Oh wait it's July there is a list as long as my arm that I want to see...but it has to be Ab Fab (Absolutely Fabulous to anyone who doesn't remember the original series).

I spent years watching Ab Fab with my Mom, she loved doing impressions of Eddie and Patsy with a bottle of plonk she found in the garage.  If I was having a teenage tantrum (more often than not) my mom would come really close to me and quote 'Sweetie Darling are you ok? darling, sweetie' on and on until I cracked and laughed!  If I ever catch a re-run episode on the TV, I get all nostalgic and goosebumpy (not a word I don't think!).

Absolutely Fabulous will be released in UK cinemas on 1st July 2016.

There were too many films that I really want to see this month so I have to give them a mention, Now you see me 2 (cue the groans from the people who hated the first one), Tarzan (solely for Alexander Skarsgard's torso), Ghostbusters (yes I know it won't be as good as the original but I'm trying to imagine it as its own film rather than a remake), Star Trek (try not to cry, cry a lot) and The BFG.

Looking Forward to Seeing in the Cinema: June 2016

Ok - before we get into this whole looking forward malarkey,  I have a confession to make! Prior to last months post, Allie text me to ask me if X-Men was going to be my looking forward film, obviously I said yes so she kindly went with Warcraft!!  However, it turns out I have the memory of a sieve, because when it came to writing my post, I did a whole blurb on Captain America!! Even when I looked up the release date and found it was April not May, I still didn't realise what I had done.  It took the post going up for Allie to read it and text me saying, why the heck did you write about Captain America instead of X-Men!!!  Because i'm a numpty, that's why!  So in short, we both potentially wanted to pick X-Men and yet we didn't actually write about it! Can I use it for this one?!

Also, I have to note that we wrote this post well before it was published, so when you guys finally read this Miss Hawkins will be Mrs Adkins - all kinds of happy for my bestest and her beau.  Love you lots <3

Hello, summer! Is it just me or does it feel like it should be blockbuster season already? This year they seem to have been spread out throughout the year...which I'm fine with, because I normally only catch about 50% of the big releases in summer anyway! This month is a tricky one to pick, but I think I've made up my mind.

the-nice-guys-ryan-gosling-russell-crowe

I saw the trailer for The Nice Guys right before seeing Spotlight in early January, and it completely took me by surprise. It looks hilarious! From what I can tell, it's set in the 1970's and follows Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe investigating the death of a porn star.

Ryan Gosling has been away from the big screen far too long for my liking, but his chemistry with Russell Crowe on Oscars night has really got me excited for The Nice Guys! I think it's a case of it either being a huge hit or a real disaster, with the only funny moments being shown in the trailer, but that's always the risk with comedy. I've got my fingers crossed! There was a gun through a window in the trailer which made me laugh hysterically! (it doesn't take much!).  Has anyone else seen the trailer for this which is Ryan and Russell in therapy in real life before the film's release, that really made me laugh.

The Nice Guys will be released in UK cinemas on 3rd June, 2016.

Oh my god, how long have I been waiting for this film, ever since I read the book way back when and then I reignited my love for JoJo Moyes this Spring reading the the sequel.  Now it's finally here.....

Based on the book by JoJo Moyes, Me before you is about Louisa Clark (Emilia Clarke) who takes a job looking after quadriplegic, William Traynor who having lead an adventurous lifestyle before his accident s struggling to come to terms with his new life.

I love Emillia Clarke and I love Sam Claflin so what is not to love....

Me before you will be released in UK cinemas on 3rd June, 2016.

Looking Forward to Seeing in the Cinema: May 2016

Er, guys. I'm getting married this month. That's kinda scary to say (type?) out loud. Anyway, in light of this, I'm not even going to pretend that I'm going to make it to the cinema this month. I only managed it twice last month! Thankfully, it's a relatively quiet month for releases that I'm desperate to see. One stands out though, and it juuuuust about falls into May, thankfully. If the movie Gods are kind and it doesn't fall flat on it's face at the box office, I might just be able to catch it after the honeymoon.

warcraft-movie-2016

Warcraft! I was a real World of Warcraft fan back in my prime, College days. I played an Undead Fire/Arcane Mage called Lunar, and was in one of the top raiding guilds on my server. Back in the day when you'd spend the whole night just trying to down one boss, accumulate enough DKP to roll for that nice chest piece that dropped, and then lose it to the newbie Warlock. Sorry, I've probably lost you all now. Wow, I didn't know you spoke a foreign language!!

My point is, a movie is finally being made based on a huge part of my teenage years. This is exciting! I'm also pretty sure it'll be terrible. If anyone can save it, it'll be Travis Fimmel. I love that man, even if he does happen to be on the Alliance side. Regardless, I'm manly looking forward to the game world being brought to life. It'll be pretty, even if the story is a disaster.  I'm 100% giving you the heads up that I will leave this one for you and the other half, I will be giving it a very wide berth! haha!

Warcraft will be released in UK cinemas on 30th May, 2016.

I'm not even going to try to think outside the box for this one, a new Marvel film is out and I'm all over it like a fat kid on cake.  I am desperately trying to see Captain America: Civil War early this time having missed Batman vs Superman entirely! :( Also, with the excitement that is Allie's hen do and wedding to look forward to I know i'm just going to forget entirely.

I haven't looked forward to a Captain America as much as this one before because I generally prefer the ensemble cast ones like Avengers, but this has that feel about it with so many characters popping up.  I half wish I hadn't seen the trailers now but I don't think the internet in general would have let me get away with not knowing the latest cameo.

Captain America: Civil War will be released in UK cinemas on 29 April, 2016.

OK so I could have sworn this came out 6th May and unfortunately I had already written this before I found out it was April, so sorry guys but I'm cheating this month!

Friday, 1 April 2016

Looking Forward to Seeing in the Cinema this Month: April 2016

I cannot possibly be writing the post for April already, surely!  When this post goes live, Allie will be getting married and I will be turning 31 NEXT MONTH...WTF!!!!!

I've known for ages what my movie would be for this month due to my slightly inappropriate obsession with Taron Egerton.

Eddie the Eagle is the true story of Brit Eddie Edwards AKA Eddie the Eagle and his determination to get to the Olympics in the 80's.  He went on to compete in the Ski Jumping category at the Calgary Winter Olympics in 1988 with the help of fictional coach, Bronson (Hugh Jackman) and won the hearts of fans everywhere.

I don't know many details of the history of Eddie the Eagle and I dying to google all about him but I'm fighting the urge so hopefully I won't know the entire story before I see it!!

Eddie the Eagle is released in UK Cinemas on 1st April 2016.

I'm suspicious of anything that happens on 1st April! I guess that comes from having prankster parents, but how funny would it be if you turned up for Eddie the Eagle on April Fool's Day and the cinema was just like, 'LOL. Here, watch some turd movie instead'. But I digress. You know what...... that wouldn't be in the slightest bit funny, in fact Cineworld if you're reading this, I would be mighty pee'd off and would consider boycotting your establishment!  Ok I wouldn't boycott as such, but I would certainly start bringing my own snacks.....

Can we rename April 'weird obsession' month here? As much as I know I'll be seeing Captain America: Civil war soon, there's something else I'm looking forward to more.

midnight-special-uk-release-april-2016

Midnight Special, baby! You heard me. I didn't even know this movie existed until last week when my family went out to see 10 Cloverfield Lane. The trailer for Midnight Special started playing and I darn near threw popcorn everywhere before squealing at the sight of Adam Driver on the big screen again!

It's a Sci-Fi flick about a child with special powers. I'm assuming the authorities want to perform all kinds of research on him, and that's why his father goes on the run with him, but I'm trying not to read too much into it. The review scores look good so far though, and the rest of the casting sounds promising. Fingers crossed!

Midnight Special is released in UK cinemas on 8th April 2016.

Looking Forward to Seeing in the Cinema this Month: March 2016

Oh, hello March! You're going to be a fun month for movies. How am I even meant to pick just one movie for this post, when there are currently five that I'm really looking forward to? The sad part is that I normally catch about three movies a month at the cinema, so I'm not even going to get to see all of these before their DVD release.

If you're curious, the five movies floating around my mind right now are 10 Cloverfield Lane, High-Rise, Batman Vs Superman, Zootopia and Hail, Caesar! I need to pick one though, and to be honest there's one I've been looking forward to for months now, ever since I saw the teaser trailer last year, so let's go with that.

hail-caesar-movie-poster-march-2016

Hail, Caesar! is the latest Coen Brothers movie, with a star-studded cast too long to even list in this little post. I actually know very little about it, as I'm trying this year to not watch too many trailers and so other than the original teaser trailer and the hilarious "Would that it were so simple" trailer, that's kind of all I know. It's definitely enough to excite me though!

Hail, Caesar! is released in UK cinemas on 4th March 2016.
So, all these big movies coming out in March, Allie has even listed them to make it easy for me and here I go and get all excited about the next Nicholas Sparks adaptation.  I'm not even sorry really, they are my guilty pleasure, I love the books and I always look forward to the movie that will inevitably follow. Jenna no!!!
The film will be utterly predictable (mostly because I have read the book) but I will still love it.  The trailer doesn't give much away and I can't remember the book  so I'm excited to remember what its about!

The Choice is released in UK Cinemas on 4th March 2016.

Looking Forward to Seeing in the Cinema this Month...February 2016

It doesn't happen very often, but this month Jenna and I are teaming up. There is literally only one movie we're dead excited for. Deadpool!  I could literally watch nothing else in the month of February and still be happy!

11 years in the making now, and we're just days away from the cinematic release. It's been over a year now since the early footage was 'leaked' and we still know very little about the plot. Well, this is Deadpool after all! The USA has it R-Rated, and at the time of writing this, we're still waiting for a UK rating. Very few movies get rated 18 here now, but I've still got my fingers crossed.  I was really hoping for an 18 but in an interview with Ryan Reynolds he confirmed it was 15, he probably knows more than we do!

Ryan Reynolds gets a lot of stick, not all undeserved I accept, but you can't argue with the fact that he was born for this role. No one else can don that iconic red suit and deliver those witty remarks like he can.  As well as take the piss out of his own poor movie choices ;-)

I think there is a good chance I am going to want to see this more than once but with it being NSFD I have limited opportunity, I may force Allie to come with me as well as go with her other half!!

As a total Marketing nerd (hey, it's literally my job) I've loved following the numerous posters for this. There are going to be some very confused girlfriends this month when they watch Deadpool, finally understanding why their dates were so happy to see this romantic comedy:

deadpool-romantic-comedy-poster

I thought the 'Skull, Poop, L' emoji poster was my favourite of them all when that went viral.

deadpool-emoji-skullpoopl-poster

But then they followed up with this one!

deadpool-emoji-skullpoopl-poster

Deadpool Marketing Team, you are my heroes. Where can I send in my CV?  It has to be the best marketing of any film in history, is there not a Oscar category for this?!

Here in the UK, we can get a load of Deadpool on 10th February, 2016.

Looking Forward to Seeing in the Cinema this Month...January 2016

You don’t understand how hard it is to pick just one movie for this post, guys. Here in the UK we’re normally at least a week behind the US, meaning a lot of the big winter releases fall into 2016 for us. I’m somehow meant to pick from Joy, The Revenant, The Hateful Eight...the list goes on.

the-big-short-movie-releases-january-2016

I haven’t yet had the chance to look into all of the January releases, but there’s one that’s been on my mind for a while now, The Big Short. I know little about the plot or the housing market collapse that it focuses on, but I’m a sucker for a big cast, and well, this one sounds promising.

Starring Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt (and Schmidt from New Girl!) I’m not sure where this movie can go wrong. Don’t let me down, guys! Here’s the trailer if you haven’t seen it yet. In fact, I’m watching it myself right now because it’s been at least a month since I saw it!

The Big Short will be released in UK cinemas on 22nd January, 2016.

I have been away from the blog for a short while over Christmas but I have been well into my movies, between DVD's, TV and the Cinema I have watched countless movies over the festive period and watched a lot of trailers...

Of all the trailers I have seen for movies this is the one that really got my attention, the one that may finally get Leo his well deserved Oscar nod!!

The Revenant is inspired by the true events of Hugh Glass and his story of survival and revenge and although it looks pretty dark in places I am really eager to see how it plays out. In case you haven't seen it, here is the dark trailer...

The Revenant will be released in UK cinemas on 7th January, 2016.

Looking Forward to Seeing in the Cinema This Month...December 2015

No no no no no no...how can it possibly be that I writing a post to be published in December, already. Our avid readers must be sick to death of reading pretty much the same line every month about how surprised we are at the date, so I'll shut up now.....I do think this year has flown by though, ha!

The movie I always look forward to in December is my family's big Christmas outing. Each year we go to the cinema together (about 10 of us!) to see that month's big release. The last 3 years have been The Hobbit movies, but this year? We're seeing Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens!

star-wars-the-force-awakens

I've actually only seen one Star Wars movie so far, that being Episode I, which from what I gather is the worst, but I've been making a real effort to catch up before we see the latest instalment. In fact, I'm working on a post right now recording my viewings, but you'll see that closer to Christmas!

Now, this is the part where I tell everyone exactly why I'm looking forward to my chosen movie, but I still have no idea what it's about, other than the fact there's a shady looking guy with a funky red lightsaber. I think his name is Kylo. That's a cool name. Is that enough reason to look forward to it? Really, I'm looking forward to watching the entire series over the coming weeks!

If you haven't seen the trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens yet, then I'm not sure why you even have the internet, but here it is for you anyway:

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens is released in UK cinemas on 17th December 2015. If you don't already have your tickets, good luck, and may the force be with you.

To be honest, there isn't much out in December that's got me excited.  I'm not really bothered about Star Wars (I have only see Episodes 1, 2 and 3 so would need to watch the original 3 before I can watch the new one anyway!) so I had to have  a rifle through YouTube to find something and finally landed on Christmas with the Coopers (AKA Love the Coopers for our friends across the pond).

I love a good family comedy, particularly when it revolves around Christmas and the cast list for this bad boy looks amazing, Diane Keaton, John Goodman, Alan Arkin, Ed Helms and the list just goes on and on.  With such a big cast I am slightly concerned about it ending up like Love Actually (I don't like films with lots of short stories within it so much) but either way I will leave the cinema feeling all christmassy and fussy inside!!

Here is the UK trailer for it:

Christmas with the Coopers is out in UK Cinemas on 4th December 2015.

Looking Forward to Seeing in the Cinema this Month...November 2015

So when I came to do this post I went to search for all the films in the month and by mistake searched for October, because there is no way its nearly November....is there?! Where has the year gone....

There is only one film I'm looking forward to seeing this month and that is The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.  Admittedly, the third is not my favourite book and the third film wasn't my favourite of the films but I'm so excited to see how they play this final out.  I don't think I need to say anymore, I'll just leave you with this:

Oh and the trailer of course:

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 will be released in UK cinemas on 19th November 2015

I am so stuck this month! Despite not making it to the cinema nearly as much as I would like to, there are two films this month I am desperate to see! They're both so very different, and that's why I can't pick. I need to pick though, I need to pick...eeney, meeney, miney, mo. Okay, I'm really looking forward to seeing Burnt! (but also The Lady in the Van!)

It's no secret that I love food (I mean, who doesn't?) so when I first saw Chef (2014) I instantly fell in love, and also wanted to eat the contents of my kitchen. That said, there are similarities between the two films, as they both feature down-on-their-luck chefs. Only, Burnt looks much more serious and dangerous, and I like that. How weird, I saw the trailer for this (and you know I too love food) and thought it looked terrible, I can't find anything to like about it.  I may let you watch it and give me an update ;-) Booooo!

Did I mention food? The wedding diet is going great, by the way. Anyway, here's the trailer if you haven't seen it yet:

Burnt will be released in UK cinemas on 6th November 2015.
